At Homes by Ken Kiser we work endlessly to provide transparency in our new home construction for Oak Island. Here are some questions that we frequently get asked by those who are already working with us as a client and those who are looking for a builder of their next dream home.

WHAT SIZE HOME DO YOU BUILD?

We commonly build homes that range from approximately 1500 square feet to over 5000 square feet. In addition we are verse in building right on the beachfront, waterway and everything in between. All of our homes are custom-built homes.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD A HOME?

From start to finish we ask our clients to anticipate a 8-9 month building process. Much of this is contingent on factors that our outside of our immediate control, such as weather, permitting and change orders.

CAN WE USE OUR OWN PLANS?

If you have professional plans available we can certainly use them. In addition, we have a variety of homes that we have selected that meet the needs of most of our clients that you are welcome to choose from. ALL plans regardless of where they come from have to be coastal engineered. Please contact us for more information.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BUILDING HOMES?

Ken has been building homes himself for over 40 years, and when you factor in the experience of the staff surrounding him, we have almost a century of building experience to bring to the table for our clients.

WHERE CAN I GET FINANCING?

We have some mortgage lenders and banks we have dealt with in the past that will work with you or bring your own. A good mortgage lender will answer all your questions regarding the borrowing process. Don’t rely on a low interest rate to determine a lender. Compare closing costs and other fees, and ask how the lender will be compensated.

WILL YOU HELP ME THROUGH THE PROCESS?

We’d love to! With hundreds of custom homes built to date, many of them for customers who had never built a custom home before, we love helping our customers through the process. In fact, there’s a reason why many of the experts you’ll be working with are so knowledgeable.
